Puppetry
One of the unique offerings of Arba Minch Entertainment is the production and performance of giant puppets. These striking creations are made from locally sourced and recycled materials and are designed to reflect the cultural identity of the Gamo people.
The giant puppets made a notable appearance during the street parade at the Second East African Art and Culture Festival in Addis Ababa. They have also been used in community mobilization efforts in Arba Minch and surrounding areas, raising awareness about the impacts of climate change.
Given the region’s rich natural and cultural heritage, new and innovative puppets are currently in development. Remarkably, all of the existing puppets were crafted by the founder and artistic director of the Arba Minch Circus and Theater Group, entirely self-taught and without formal training in puppet construction.
